Today’s art class uses cardboard and paper to make some beautiful folk art. We’re making masks out of materials that might otherwise end up in a landfill.
You can design this mask to be a self portrait, to look like someone you know, or go crazy and pull a face directly from your imagination! Just have tons of fun making a beautiful decoration from reusable materials.
You can see examples of masks from different cultures around the world at https://www.newsweek.com/2020/07/03/look-cultural-masks-around-world-1513172.html. Examples of my completed masks can be found below and at the Supplemental Materials page.
The materials needed for this class are:
- Corrugated cardboard

- Egg cartons
- Food packaging boxes
- Packing material
- Paper bags

Practice, practice, practice!
